Boudoir photography is popular with brides as a pre-wedding gift to their husband-to-be, but also for events like Valentines Day or a birthday. Some women even use the sessions as a reward for recovering from surgery or illness, or for a move towards a healthier lifestyle. Shanna from Davista Photography recently held a pre-V day boudoir session at the sleek and stylish Rumor Boutique Hotel shared a few photos with  me. The shots, the hotel and the model are gorgeous!
Boudoir is more about the suggestion of nudity, rather than outright gettin’ nekkid. Shanna says her favorite part of shooting sessions like this is that she is helping women feel even more beautiful, and that having them see the finished images helps them envision how others see them: gorgeous. The intimate shoots have helped her make fast friends with not only the model, but with the crew helping her do hair and makeup that day. Sounds like a lot of fun!
Shanna thinks Rumor is a great place for such photographs because it’s quiet and has a boutique feel. That’s certainly reflected in the photos – although the decor is certainly clean and modern, it has a certain old Hollywood glamor, no?

- she recommends starting the session with a cozy, comfy outfit like a favorite t-shirt or even a sports jersey
- high heels are a necessity!
- props like a chunky necklace of string of pearls helps hands be more relaxed and can give nervous models something to hold onto!
- a mix of daring and conservative lingerie so that you have some good photos for around your home, but also for your partner’s eyes only…
